As we continue to recognize the high school stars of 2019-20, we’ll move on to the Junior class, which is truly a special group. This class has more high-end potential superstars than any other current high school class. In most years, there are different tiers of talent, with only maybe five to seven wrestlers in that most elite group. With this class, it’s hard to draw that line. Looking down at the top-30, it’s easy to imagine any one of them turning into studs at the next level.

What all of that is to say is there were some difficult decisions in assembling today’s All-Junior team. Four of the members of the first team are currently ranked number-one at their respective weights. Almost half (13) of the wrestlers mentioned on the first and second-team are listed in the top-five.

If you missed the previous classes, here the All-Freshman Team and the All-Sophomore Team.

106 – Andre Gonzales (Poway, CA)

The ascend to the top spot in the nation started for Andre Gonzales in the middle of his sophomore year of high school. Gonzales went from missing out on qualifying for the California state tournament as a freshman to placing third as a sophomore. That following summer, Gonzales went out to Fargo and brought back a pair of stop signs in the Junior division. Andre continued that momentum into the 2019-20 season, where he spent the first half up at 113 lbs, taking second at the Reno Tournament of Champions. Once Andre moved down to 106, he was dominant, capturing a title at the Temecula Valley tournament. Gonzales won his state title with a 4-2 decision over fellow-junior Raymond Lopez (Buchanan, CA), who is ranked in the top-15 nationally, himself. Andre went unbeaten this season during his time at 106 pounds.
